About

Jacksonville residents live in one of the most beautiful regions in the country. With panoramic views of the Appalachian Foothills, community members enjoy the city's year-round moderate climate.

The Jacksonville City School system is part of a rich educational experience in Jacksonville. Home to also Jacksonville State University (JSU), the Jacksonville City School system and JSU provide a diverse K-12 and university atmosphere. The two educational institutions partner together on the Collaborative Regional Education (CORE) initiative. This initiative was formed in 2011 to "change education from the inside out". Visit www.jsu.edu to find out more about our great university, and visit www.corepartners.org to learn more about the CORE initiative.

The city of Jacksonville (www.jacksonville-al.org) serves approximately 13,000 citizens. The citizens have access to numerous outdoor activities including the nearby Coosa River Basin, Dugger and Cheaha Mountain National Wilderness Areas, and Talladega National Forest. Golf enthusiasts only have to go a short distance to step on one of the famous links of the renowned Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail.

The Jacksonville Plaza Shopping Center, Pelham Plaza Shopping Center, and Church Street Plaza Shopping Center are some of the local shopping centers.

Beyond all these attributes, artistic, athletic and musical achievements of young people create a spirit of involvement that extends to the young and the old alike.

We encourage you to get involved with our schools and the future of our community. Thank you for your interest in the Jacksonville Community.
