I am very pleased to announce the Digital Conversion of the Jacksonville City School System. This is a process that began in the summer of 2011 and has been ongoing. Our Digital Conversion Team, made up of representatives from our schools and city, have been researching and learning the very best practices in integrating the most appropriate tools into the already strong instructional program of our school system. We traveled to locations as close as Piedmont and as far away as Mooresville, North Carolina and Cupertino, California to see what is working to make 21st Century instruction engaging and relevant to our students. We have also partnered with JSU through the CORE Initiative to help create a seamless pathway from Pre-K through college. The City of Jacksonville contributed $228,000 to assist us in preparing our technology infrastructure for the tremendous demand the Digital Conversion creates. The synergy that has been created through our partnerships will help make Jacksonville a stronger community. Our goal is to ensure that every student is college and/or career ready when they leave the Jacksonville City School System. We know that the Digital Conversion will enable our students to be even better prepared to enter and flourish in college or the global workforce after graduation.
